Small two-bedroom apartment near the centre overlooking the green
A small two-room apartment in the near neighbourhood of the busy centre of Olomouc, yet with a quiet view of the greenery, is part of a six-storey panel apartment building from the 1960s.
The apartment is oriented to the south facade and has a simple floor plan divided into two living rooms, between which is inserted a hygienic unit.
The original division into toilet, bathroom and kitchen has been merged into a common more spacious layout of the bathroom, which is more comfortable for one user, and the kitchen is newly oriented to the living room with space for dining. The bathroom is subsequently ergonomically shaped according to the activities that take place in it and the characteristics of prefabrication. This allowed more natural light to enter the bathroom, which then reaches the entrance of the apartment, which was originally without natural light, through the glazing under the ceiling.
The plan to separate the original and the new fits perfectly with the client's requirements, for a smaller "two bedroom" with a more spacious bathroom in a dominant black colour. During the renovation itself, the concrete panel ceiling and spruce parquet flooring were uncovered, adding a visual warmth to the living rooms. Terrazzo window sills, cast-iron radiators and exposed wiring complete the apartment's original qualities.
The overall impression of the apartment is completed by handles from the M&T manufactory, Industry Squelette. The handles, which are based on old railway bridges, perfectly complement the industrial and minimalist character of the apartment.
